Ok so what the hell is happening here?. Nintendo Europe are blocking any WII U content rated 18+ until 11pm, no matter if you have any parental controls set or not.
The news comes via a NeoGaf forum, the games with a more adult persuasion won’t be available to view or download between the times of 11pm and 3am. The claim was tested by Eurogamer who found they couldn’t download or view any information from Assassin’s Creed 3 or Zombi U. When approached, Nintendo had this to say
“Dear customer, we would like to let you know that Nintendo has always aimed to offer gameplay experiences suited to all age groups, observing carefully all the relevant regulations regarding content access that are present in the various European countries.
“We have thus decided to restrict the access to content which is unsuitable to minors (PEGI) to the 11pm – 3am time window.”
If you do try to download content that is deemed unsuitable, you will be greeted with this message:
“You cannot view this content, The times during which this content can be viewed have been restricted.”
Sounds a bit daft to me, We don’t currently have a Wii U so can’t test it out ourselves. So looks like, if this is true, you’ll have to leave your Wii U on over night to download the games you want.
